I started marking up price boards in a Liverpool betting shop at nineteen and stayed behind the counter for fourteen years, the last six as a shop manager in Birkenhead. After that I spent three years supporting an odds compiling team before I started reviewing online bookmakers full time.
Why this site exists
Most betting reviews are written by people who have never settled a bet. I wanted to write the guide I would give a regular who asked me which sites to trust: plain, honest and focused on prices, payouts and fair treatment rather than headline bonuses.
How we review
Every bookmaker is tested with a real account, opened with my own debit card and documents. I place real bets, make real withdrawals and time them, and contact customer service with genuine questions. Reviews are updated when something changes, whether that is a new rule from the Gambling Commission or a slower payout than before.
Independence
We earn commission when readers open accounts through some links. That pays for the testing. It never decides which sites we recommend or how we rate them, and we only ever list bookmakers licensed in Great Britain.
